Still alive, even though we encountered some dificulties. In San Miguel de Allende right now. Will post more pictures soon, probably tomorrow as we reach Mexico City.
A train ride through the canyons
The Chihuahua – Pacifico railway has been completed in 1961 and offers spectacular views while going through countless tunnels and bridges from sea level up to 2400m altitude. We took the train from El Fuerte and rode about 5 hours each way. Security onboard was properly maintained by a group of men armed with hand guns and M16s.What a magnificient experience! I have to thank Laura for this wonderful idea.
Sinaloa, Mexico
As we crossed the mountains and reached the coast, in the city of Hermosillo, the wheather was once again warm. We continued our way South, occasionally going through heavily defended checkpoints.
Heavy raining
Approaching Hermolsillo, we encountered heavy raining. During the first hour, the gear resisted quite well. But after that, moisture begain to go through here and there. We stopped at a restaurant to get warm and then we continued to Hermosillo, where we were forutnate to find a big and warm room (with private garage!!!) for pennies.
Sonora
Further East there is the State of Sonora. Big plains, big trucks (usually double-semis, 34-wheelers!), and finally I managed to put the bike down. Just look how impressive a truck looks after a turbocharger failure!!!
