Water pump play
Guess I was over confident in Palomina’s self healing capabilities. That’s why I added tap water to the cooling system every time it needed topping. After some time, the minerals and other impurities in that kind of water ground the shaft to the extend that it started leaking. So I had to spend one afternoon replacing it. Biggest problem was keeping the bystanders away, which suddenly became wannabe mechanics.
Can’t be too proud when I am having the same problem for the third time! (1,2)

Maybe this is the origin of “tree shade mechanic” used today for hobby mechanic ?!
Here are some “idea from the past” that might extend the life of the water pump in given conditions:
Do not use water directly from the tap, let it sit overnight in a bottle and use the top part and leave the sediments to the bottom
“Home made” coolant used to be made from distillate water + alcohol + glycerin; alcohol is not needed (no cold weather) but glycerin (check at the pharmacy) makes the “coolant” a bit lubricant like the real coolant.
These may require some planning, but you plan for gasoline and oil anyway.
Good luck !
the problem is compatibility with the existing coolant
