Situated at an elevation of 3660m above sea level, La Paz is the world´s highest capital city. There are many hills, from which we were able to get nice panoramic views. Although there are many parks all over, too many minibuses make some areas look crowded and polluted… But the overall experience was positive!
Tiwanaku
Tiwanaku is the name of an archaeological site located close to Lake Titicaca. The history of the Tiwanaku culture is complex and the site reveals many religious buildings, sculptures and other structures, some of them well preserved and some restored. The llamas you can see in the last picture were located in the backyard of our hostel!
The border to Bolivia
The border to Bolivia looks crounded in the picture, but 95% of the people you can see are just selling something, so actually few people were in line at the border crossing office. However, because ¨no hay systema¨ (system down) we had to wait one hour until everything was restored.
Finally, the moment I´ve been waiting for so long, has arrived: we were in Bolivia!
Lake Titicaca
Once in Puno, we booked a tour of the Lake Titicaca. First we went to visit one of the artificial floating islands inhabited by the Uros, direct descendants of an ancient indian tribe. After a short stay, we continued to Taquile, another island some 2 hours away from the first. As you can see from the last picture, the indians living nowadays pay less attention to details, compared to their ancestors 🙂

Still alive
Sorry I have been unable to post during the past week, but we were somewhere in the middle of the Atacama desert, struggling to advance and survive. I´ll try to post the whole story from Bolivia asap. Cheers!
